2005 Trentadue Cote del Leon, Alexander Valley
$22.00
TASTING NOTES
2005 is the inaugural year for this special blend named after Leo Trentadue - the founder of the winery. The components were chosen with the intention to produce our own Californian version of "Rhone" blend which expresses the tradition in growing and making wines from Mediterranean grape varieties. The base is Petite Sirah - a proven success for Trentadue for more than thirty years. The soils on most of the Estate are well drained rocky/sandy loam which is nearly perfect for growing heat loving varieties. The wine has a solid, ripe plums and dark cherry core supported by black pepper and hint of blackberry jam. Further aeration reveals a hint of leather, earth, smoky meats and dark chocolate. The color is predictably dark purple and the mouth feel and finish are of a "big", full bodied wine worth aging for 3-6 years. Enjoy with rich, comfort food in a cold rainy day.
