2023 vintage of OPR Sauvignon Blanc is our sixth vintage of this concept wine. The grapes are 100% from Clement Hills (region of Lodi appellation), known for shallow, rocky soils made up of decomposed granite and loam. This year our Sauvignon Blanc a bit riper in overall aromas such as green apple, gooseberry, melon and fig aromas. The body is light to medium and focused, with obvious richness, finishing on refreshingly high notes of acidity and minerality. The wine was slowly fermented at cold temperature to preserve more of the aromatics and acidity as well as achieving fuller and viscous body. No oak was used during the aging. Enjoy this wine chilled with your favorite sea food or fruit and cheese plates. Cheers!

The 2021 OPR is predominately Zin blended with Petite Sirah and Carignane resulting in very fruity yet complex and full-bodied Rhone- like style wine. The wine has dark red color with intense black cherry aromas, blueberries, and cherry cola as an immediate impression. With aeration nuances of ripe plums, vanilla and cocoa are showing with a dose of toasted oak and dark licorice. On the mouth the wine is fresh and juicy with youthful brightness, finishing long and fruity. This is a wine that will pair well with variety of foods, but it is also very enjoyable on its own. Our 2021 OPR is delicious now, but it will reward your patience with 2-5 years of aging. Cheers!

Borrowing from the traditions of port making, we add neutral grape spirits to stop fermentation, trapping a percentage of sugar in the wine. Trentadue California Champagne is created using only select premium varietal wine. It is especially formulated to make it versatile, ideal for serving as an apertif or to accompany hors d’oevres and light food of all kinds. It is an attractively delicate, fruity wine with a smooth, crisp finish.

Trentadue California Champagne is made with French Colombard grapes from the Mendocino and Lodi regions, using the Charmat bulk process. The wine is fermented in large 1,000-2,000 gallon glass lined tanks and the process takes about 45 days to complete. The result is a slightly sweet, mellow style Champagne with clean fruitiness and balanced acidity, a sparkling wine with a delicate flavor layered over impressions of a pear and green apple.

While we associate Champagne with special occasions and the holiday season, sparkling wines are great just about anytime, as a cocktail before dinner, with lighter fare, and with dessert. Whatever your setting or occasion, Trentadue Champagne is a great choice for value and quality.

Our 2021 Cuvee 32 is the 24thvintage of this blend for Trentadue Winery. In retrospect our “Super Tuscan” blend has been highly successful and consistently our top selling wine in the Tasting Room. Every vintage has a uniquely different blend determined by the best expression of its components and how they work together. Our young Montepulciano has become an important player in the blend as well as our Brunello Clone Sangiovese. This vintage does not have Malbec in it or Syrah. The 2021 Cuvee 32 has intense cherry/cassis aromas contributed by the Sangiovese followed by deeper red fruit aromas of plums, blueberry, and a hint of pomegranate. With more air the wine shows more complex yet still in developing stage aromas and flavors of cocoa, cinnamon, leather, and black licorice. The mouth feel is medium to full with relatively high, food friendly acidity and a long and fresh finish. Drink now through 2030. Cheers!

All Zin blocks in 2021 were harvested in the first halve of September with relatively higher acids and sugar. About 10% of the grapes were fermented in small ½ ton open top fermenters for additional complexity of aromas and textures. The wine is bright and lively with intense varietal aromas of Bing cherry, blueberry, and plums and a hint of violets. The fine oak barrel aging brings in subtle aromas of vanilla, maple, cocoa beans and slight toast and smokiness. The mouth feel is solid, with medium to full body and very soft and elegant tannins that accentuate the wine’s long and juicy finish with lively acidity. Zinfandels when balanced are very versatile food pairing wines with broad range and this wine will satisfy your palate with many of your favorite dishes. The wine is delicious now but with some patience and proper aging in 2-5 years it will be even better. Cheers!

We harvested the 2021 Merlot Block 500 grapes on September 17th. The average sugar at harvest was 25.5 Brix- ideal for making high quality, age worthy wines. Post pressing the wine was racked twice and pumped into barrels. The majority of the wine for the final La Storia blend came from Block 500 with few barrels added from block 510. Our La Storia Merlot is and has been consistently fine example of the ability of this classic Bordeaux variety to make solid, tasty and age worthy wines. The main aromas and flavors are of dark cherry, plums, a bit of black licorice and herbs. The new oak barrels contribute a touch of vanilla, brown sugar, cocoa dust, and toast. On the mouth the wine is soft and viscous, balancing the acidity and the tannins well for such a young wine. The finish is long and soft with suggestion of sweetness backed by ripe tannins. This wine will age well and will reward your patience if stored well in the next 4-7 years. Cheers!

According to the National Integrated Drought Information System, the year 2022 was the driest year to date in the last 128 years. Here at Trentadue we started the practice of “water deficit Irrigation” nine years ago and because of that and other vineyard management techniques our vines faired relatively well even during the heat wave in September. The good news is that we did not have fires in Sonoma County and the quality was very high across all varieties with notably smaller berry and cluster sizes, packing a stellar quality 2022 vintage. The yields, as one may suspect, were down about 18% compared to 10-year average with Zinfandel down almost 35%.  

The grapes for our 2022 Cabernet were harvested between September 10^th and September 26^th,about 20 days earlier than average. After destemming and cold soaking for 3 days the grapes were fermented using native and “designer “yeast for an average of 10 days. Post fermentation all three lots were put through extended maceration for an average of 30 days. The wine was aged for 15 months in 18% new French Oak barrels and the rest in neutral oak barrels.

 Our 2022 La Storia Cab has an attractive dark red, slightly garnet color followed by abundant varietal aromas and flavors of blueberries, blackberry, and dark plums. The French oak aging contributes aromas of maple, cocoa dust and slight toast. The mouth feel is medium dense and juicy with balanced acidy and very soft and ripe tannins. Although drinkable now, this wine will continue to improve for 5-7 years for those who have the patience. Cheers.

Our La Storia Petite Sirah is as usually impressive and imposing with very dark, opaque color, beautiful nose of concentrated blue berries and blackberries that leads to a full body mouth feel with engagingly soft (for Petite Sirah) tannins. After short aeration, the nose opens with the addition of cocoa, violets, slight earthiness, and graphite followed by brown sugar and a touch of vanilla-contribution of the new oak barrels. Overall, the aromas are of fresh dark fruit and very attractive. Longevity, if stored properly, is one of the virtues of this variety and it will give you the most enjoyment in 5-8 years.

Our 2022 Chardonnay is typical for the variety and the style with aromas of tropical fruits, ripe apples, peaches, and apricots. Further aeration reveals deeper aromas of toast with a touch of caramel and ripe Mayer lemons meringue and a bit of minerality.
